Stop the Bleed

STOP THE BLEED CLASSES FOR INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS, GROUPS AND COMPANIES

As part of a national campaign to cultivate grassroots efforts bystanders are encouraged to become trained, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency. Weston Volunteer EMS will teach you to be the help before help arrives.

Did you know that a person can lose all of their blood within five minutes? Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of death from trauma. With proper training, death from bleeding can be prevented by people who know how to control it. Simple measures can save lives.

Weston Volunteer EMS is teaching residents what to do in an emergency when someone is injured and bleeding before help arrives. By taking a Stop the Bleed 90 minute class, you will learn what to do in an emergency situation with different types of wounds.

Weston EMS will be hosting classes throughout the year. If your organization, company or group would like to learn how to Stop the Bleed, please reach out and we will set up a special group class for you. Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, Clubs, Churches, Synagogues, Weston Clubs, are all welcome to take our classes. And like everything else Weston EMS does, Stop the Bleed classes are FREE.

Please visit our website to see when our next classes will be held or contact 203-222-2649 to be notified when new classes are on the calendar. Teenagers 16 and over are welcome.

Programs WIP

Weston Injury Prevention (WIP)

Weston EMS developed WIP as an ongoing education and training program for injury prevention in and around the home. The WIP program focuses on home safety as well as accident and injury prevention, for instance, what to do in the case of broken bones, sports injuries, if you witness a seizure or an unresponsive person and when to call 911.

The goals of the program are to educate families on how to make their home injury proof, what to do in case an injury does occur and to encourage kids to become Safety Captains and assist their parents in making their home a safe place.

We strongly encourage groups such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts to participate in the WIP program. We will provide all the information and materials necessary and will tailor the program to meet your organization's needs.

For further information contact our Office Manager at 203-222-2649.

Programs HeartSmart

HeartSmart

The HeartSmart program addresses many facets of cardiac health and what can be done by a lay person witnessing a heart or seizure episode. Our continuing focus on training groups and individuals within the Weston community to deal with cardiac events improves the health and welfare of our town and surrounding area.

CPR training is provided to groups such as the Girl Scouts, the high school student population, community service organizations, coaches of sports programs and other citizens on a periodic basis or upon request. Skill levels range from "Family and Friends" basic training to national certification programs.

Weston EMS volunteers include state certified instructors who conduct all CPR training sessions, and reflect our commitment to professional standards and practices, delivered by neighbors for the benefit of neighbors.

For more information or to arrange a Heartsmart program, contact our Office Manager at 203-222-2649.
